If you are joining a vessel belonging to Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Marella Cruises or FTI Cruises, the following information will help you to prepare your documents. In addition, we will send you an email with specific information related to your assignment, joining date, and requirements.

Download our new hire documentation checklist (uses Excel) here and use it to help you organize your documents. Enter your joining date in the yellow box (day/month/year - for example 18/11/2015 or 21/01/2016) and the form will give you the deadlines for submitting your documents. Print a copy, and keep it handy while you are preparing everything.


Passport

Your passport  must be valid for AT LEAST 12 months from the date of joining the ship. Please check your passport expiration date carefully, and if necessary, renew it in good time. If you are renewing your passport or applying for a new one, we recommend to obtain for at least 3 years, to avoid needing to renew it again soon.


US C1/D Visa Application

For all crew joining Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Marella Cruises, and FTI Cruises a US C1/D visa is required. For more information on the application process, see our Visa Application page. We recommend to apply for the visa AT LEAST 2 months before your joining date. Your visa must be valid AT LEAST for the duration of your contract. Please check your visa expiration date carefully, and if necessary, renew it in good time.


Police Clearance

You must obtain a Police Clearance (Antecedentes no penales), stating no criminal background.


STCW Certification

STCW certification and training is required for all vessels. See our STCW page for full details. Your certificates must be valid AT LEAST for the duration of your contract. Please check your certificates expiration dates carefully, and if necessary, renew them in good time.


Pre-employment medical exams (PEME)

For all vessels, a pre employment medical exam is required. For more information, medical forms, and a list of some of the doctors we work with, see our MEDICAL page.


Ticket to join the ship

Depending on the ship, position, and whether you are new or returning crew, we will advise you whether your ticket will be provided by the company, or if you must arrange it yourself. If you need to arrange your own ticket, see our Travel Services page for suggested travel agencies.

Salary Payments
You will receive your salary payments onboard the vessel on a regular schedule which will be explained to you when you join. Salaries are not paid in cash - you will receive an OceanPay debit card, and your payroll will be deposited to your card account. The card can be used to obtain cash, or to make purchases online, or in retail stores.
